Karen Cleaver
COO
In late 2021, Karen embarked on her journey with Big Fish Local as the office manager, leveraging her two years of experience in similar roles elsewhere. Due to her exceptional leadership and organizational skills, she has since risen to the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO). With a nurturing spirit, shaped by her role as a mother to seven, Karen dedicates herself to supporting her team, ensuring their needs are met for optimal performance. Her days are filled with streamlining project operations, proactively addressing challenges, and facilitating a productive work environment.
Karen's knack for organization and strategic planning is both an innate talent and a skill honed through her academic journey, earning an Associate degree in Professional Office Management from Clark State Community College. These abilities are crucial to her role, enabling her to oversee office operations, client problem-solving, website and social media review, and project management. She is the linchpin that keeps the Big Fish Local team cohesive and efficient.
Big Fish Local resonates deeply with Karen's values, particularly its family-like atmosphere and commitment to integrity and community support. These principles mirror her own, making her role there immensely fulfilling.
A resident of rural London, Ohio, Karen, alongside her husband James of 12 years, shares her home with four of their children, with three having embarked on their own journeys. The family's companions include 3 dogs and numerous barn cats, reflecting Karen's compassionate and caring nature.
Away from the office, Karen enjoys reading, traveling, crafting, and cherishing moments with her family. She finds inspiration in Ralph Waldo Emerson's words: “The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.” This quote encapsulates her approach to life and work, underlining her dedication to personal growth and the well-being of those around her.
Nate Laing
CFO
Nate has been the accountant of Big Fish Local since 2020, though he had worked in the field of business management for 4 years prior to taking up this role. He sees his purpose as an extremely practical one: to ensure that all the bills are paid and that the company remains profitable.
It’s obvious what makes Nate so well suited to his position. He has a meticulous approach, an analytical mind, and a wealth of financial understanding that he gained from his studies in small business management. Nate is deeply committed to his own professional development, and he likes that this industry provides endless opportunities for learning and growth.
On a typical workday, Nate stays on top of business essentials by connecting with the team, managing payments, running payroll, sending invoices, and ensuring all financials balance for Big Fish Local. He keeps a close eye on the flow of funds, making sure every detail aligns with the company’s financial health.
In his spare time, Nate loves tinkering with anything mechanical and exploring the outdoors. A true family man, Nate cherishes every moment with his wife and two kids, making the most of quality time together. If you know Nate, you know his passion for both his family and hands-on hobbies.
When asked to describe Nate, his loved ones would undoubtedly use words like “honest, direct, and reliable.” If he could invite anyone over for dinner, he would choose Jesus himself.
Ren Duning
Web Developer
Ren has worked as a website developer with Big Fish Local since 2021. To prepare for this role, he undertook a 2 year course in information technology as well as a 4 year degree program in computer science. What he loves about his job is that it’s always exciting and filled with new challenges. Problem solving comes naturally to Ren, so it’s a perfect fit for his personality!
The best part about working for Big Fish Local is that Ren gets to learn new skills all the time and work alongside people that are easy and fun to talk to. Having grown up in a small city in the Phillipines called Dumaguete, he finds remote work offers amazing opportunities to connect with talented people from all over the world.
Ren sees his responsibility at Big Fish Local as to help the company itself as well as its clients be more successful through effective web development. For him, the experience of contributing to a company’s growth is very rewarding. Because his clients and their needs are different each and every day, Ren constantly finds new sources of interest at work.
In his spare time, you’ll find Ren playing computer games, growing plants, mountain biking, or taking care of his beloved pet koi fish. Koi fish are somewhat of a passion for him, and he has kept them diligently since he was in elementary school. It might surprise people to learn that despite his love of computers, Ren prefers reading books to consuming online materials!
If Ren could have dinner with any celebrity, he’d choose actor Keanu Reeves. As a person, Ren is friendly, upbeat, and full of high spirits. He is a great believer in the power of positive thinking, and his personal mantra is “my positive thoughts guide me to new heights.”

Anfernee Cimafranca

Aaron Hostetler
Aaron is the newest addition to the Big Fish Local team, and he’s already a riot at the lunch table. His offbeat takes and quick humor keep everyone laughing, and his easygoing nature makes him a perfect fit for the crew. He’s been married for five years and has one awesome kid who keeps him laughing at home, too! He shares a home with his wife, daughter, a cat that acts like a toddler, and two dogs who share about half a brain between them.
As a Cedarville University graduate (Class of 2017), Aaron has called the area home since 2013. Before joining Big Fish Local, he spent eight years at Speedway/7-Eleven as a marketing analyst, where he learned to turn data, caffeine, and curiosity into smart strategy. Now, he brings that same analytical mindset and creative energy to helping local businesses grow, something that feels especially meaningful for someone so rooted in the community.
When he’s not working, Aaron’s probably pretending he knows how to play D&D, accidentally growing only jalapeños, or trying to remember basic board game rulesets. He’s a fan of comics (just not the superhero kind) and swears that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom completely changed how he thinks about games. His daughter is his sidekick in just about everything, especially when it comes to Skyline Chili and Courage the Cowardly Dog.
