Become the Big Fish in Your Pond

Julia Vernot Brooker

Social Media Specialist

Julia is a social marketing specialist who has worked with Big Fish Local since 2015. She continues to enjoy the creative process involved in curating engaging social media content on behalf of a diverse range of clients.

Working remotely on a part-time basis suits Julia’s independent spirit as well as her family responsibilities. However, she still loves being a part of the welcoming Big Fish Local team.

She appreciates that social media marketing is such a dynamic field, which means she is constantly learning and evolving in her approach. There’s never a dull moment in this line of work, and she’s always open to professional development opportunities.

To Julia, the most important part of her job is that she provides knowledgeable and well-composed content for small businesses’ social media platforms. This way, small business owners are freed up to focus on the other elements of their operation, safe in the knowledge that their company has an active online presence.

Native to Idaho, Julia grew up in Hamilton before studying Philosophy and Religion at Ohio Wesleyan University. This is where she met her husband, and they now live in a bustling home with their three incredible children—and their two adorable dachshunds. Together, they definitely keep her active.

When Julia isn’t working, she’s spending quality time with her family. She is a talented baker who loves to get her children in the kitchen with her. Those who know her would describe her as a quick-witted caregiver, and they’re always happy to taste-test her signature sourdough bread.

Julia’s strength and determination is reflected in her favorite quote: “At the end of the day, we can endure much more than we think we can.” (Frida Kahlo). If she could have dinner with any celebrity, she’d invite NPR podcast host Sam Sanders over for a fascinating chat about pop culture and politics.
