Ways to Improve Your Social Media Presence

Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to improve your social media presence? Of course it is — it simply takes some proactive planning and strategy development. Today, we’re going to unpack five ways to improve your social media presence.

However, as a sixth bonus tip before we even get started, we want to encourage you to consider the importance of a paid advertising social media presence. We’ll look back to this tip at the end.

Update your profiles
Have you recently changed your hours of operation? Are you a restaurant with an updated menu that’s still advertising your older one? Have you expanded your service offerings or opened up a new location?

Any change to your business or organization should be evident on your social media profiles. There are a lot of aspects of this too. Your About section on Facebook, a LinkTree-style profile URL on Instagram, your LinkedIn page cover photo, and so on.

To be successful on social media, consider revamping any of these sections that are out of date with newer, more current (and relevant) info.

Be strategic with your content
Did you know that improving your social media presence also requires a strategic approach? For example, it’s easy for brands to turn every post into a “Contact us”-style CTA. The thing is, you wouldn’t do this offline. Rather, it takes time for a customer to consider buying from you.

Likewise, each of your posts should be designed to build trust with your audience. As you push your readers through the Buyers Journey, it accomplishes this goal and helps them make a buying decision. Jumping right to the sale without having earned the right to do so is a recipe for disaster.

Revisit your target audience characteristics
Some companies call this your Buyer Persona. Others call it Target Audience. Others still call it their Ideal Customer.

Whatever term you use, understand who you are speaking to, their pain points, and how your solution can help. The process of rethinking these characteristics can help you understand how to frame your message online (as well as if you’re using the appropriate platform).

Implement a video strategy
Speaking of platforms, if your customers are primarily under the age of 30, you should consider the importance of adding a video strategy to your social media content calendar. It doesn’t have to be complex and you can often shoot many of your videos with a smartphone, tripod, and a basic ring light.

Nevertheless, video marketing will continue to be an important part of digital marketing and can greatly improve your social media presence.

Do one platform really well before moving on
Finally, let’s assume that your target audience is primarily a Facebook user. Great! Then do that platform really, really well before trying to expand to other platforms. While Instagram and Facebook kind of go hand-in-hand with this statement, our point is simple. Before you add Twitter, LinkedIn, or TikTok to your marketing strategy, master Facebook (and Instagram). Then,
once your presence on those platforms is award-winning, slowly expand to start marketing on the other platforms.

It also takes time to understand the right way to implement a paid strategy, and not all brands have the manpower (or the time) to develop this. That’s where we come in. We’ll help you update your profiles, build a strategic content outline, update your target audience, make video recommendations, and ensure that you stand out on your platform of choice. Then, when those are all in place, we can also make critical recommendations on your paid advertising “icing on the cake.”
